The graphics were great, the individual scenes awesome, the length of play... HIGHLY disappointing!
I played this game for just over 11 hours. I don't consider myself a "gamer". I've always thought of gamers as those who buy every new game as it becomes available to buy and play it straight through to the finish. Some of these people even use the system to quickly play it, take it back or trade it in for another, or whatever.
I mentioned my "assessment" of this game to one of my co-workers today and he quietly explained what the "intention" of the game is. He expressed that the game is intended for online play and not so much campaign play.
If that's the case... Wow! I must really be out of the loop! What about the Ghost Recon games? Great campaigns AND great co-op play online. Most all local play sucks due to having to on your split section of the screen. But anyway... If one enjoys going through the stories and the campaigns, this particular version of the game is not much more than an add-on pack to the previous. It does NOT deliver like one might think.
Oddly, I have had Flashpoint- Operation: Dragon Rising for a couple weeks now and am nowhere near the end of the game.
The big difference in these games is what one might expect.
I like co-op online play and then campaign. If the game basically leads you down a path that you MUST follow to make it work, then the makers have overstepped the boundaries of what is realistic and what is trying to make one feel like it is real. If I have no choice, it isn't very real. So I have to press a button while I'm coming out of the water to kill one of the guards on the grate... So, big deal. I don't have a choice here. What is the point of going through the motions just to go through them. I don't feel anything from that - I need to actually feel like I made it happen, but not from only pressing the button that the game flashed on the screen to press. I mean, what the hell is that??
