COD - World at War promises to deliver "War like you've never seen it before..." and I'd have to say it is pretty much on target with that assessment. I started playing it yesterday for the Playstation 3 and got sucked in for a little over 3 hours! The game loads quickly and when you die, as I did many times, the reloads don't much delay, so you're back in the action in short order.
There is more blood, more realistic shots of it, harsher language, and A.I. involvement making the game top-notch for play realism. I suppose the number of grenades I have thrown at me are a bit out of balance due to the fact I'm playing on the "hard" level (one level below the most difficult). If it weren't for the grenades, I'd probably be done with the game by now.
I know it is just a game, but while the game is waiting on me to fulfill a particular milestone, I'm being gunned down by a seemingless unlimited supply of ammunition from a nested machine gunner, yet when I achieve that milestone and replace that machine gunner with myself, I run out of ammunition! Oh well, like I said, it is just a game and I'm sure it wouldn't be much fun if I could go on and on shooting and killling the enemy to nothingness prior to meeting my objectives.
This game is a tricky one. Precision is a must. Take for example, I'm trying to beat a sniper at his own game where I am in the game right now, but I haven't been able to accomplish this yet, as he always manages to shoot me one time - dead, though when I shoot him, he is only "wounded". At least on "hard", this guy will nail you no matter where you stand if he can see ANY of you! Be careful!
It's a great game and I highly recommend it for hours of shooting to your heart's content. I'll let you know how it plays out once I manage to get past that sniper!
