Sharing Your MySpace Images

E-mail Print PDF

This article will mainly address how to link to an image from a MySpace profile that allows image sharing. There are two methods: You can either use the image's URL or insert HTML code to allow for embedding of the image. MySpace recently made this a little easier for everyone. I'll explain.

If you want to link to an image or embed it in a comment, you can go to the image from either your profile or someone else's (as long as they have it set to share) and you now see a couple of options to the right of the image. The first is the actual image URL, usually used to simply link to the image but not necessarily show it, and the second is the embed code. The embed code is used to actually embed the image link (URL) into something like a comment you might post on a friend's MySpace. Of course, you're not restricted to posting just on MySpace, you can post anywhere that will allow it - another blog, for example.

MySpace is getting there. They've come a long way, but still have a lot of muddy code to sift through to make it a truly user friendly and secure social-networking site.

How do I Link to a MySpace Album Image?

E-mail Print PDF

You'll be really surprised how you link to a MySpace Album Image. I think the first thing anyone should do is create a folder to house any images you don't want the general public to see, yet be able to link to them at your choosing. That's what I did. Now I have a separate folder for anything that I don't really care to have friends comment on, yet it is a method to have MySpace literally host the images for me say vs. Photobucket or Imageshack.

BTW, if you find an image elsewhere, which is likely the case, you can save it to your computer, upload it to your private folder, then create a link to it to display in a blog, a MySpace comment, somewhere else on your profile, anywhere or anything.

Here is how you do it:

1) find the image

2) save it to your computer (right-click and choose "save image as..."

3) manipulate it, if you will, then upload it to your private MySpace folder

4) so you want to place the image in a blog? Go to the image where you have it saved

5) open it and then right-click it and choose "properties"

6) double-click the http: link that reads "location:" just before it.

7) copy the link (cntrl-c) or right-click (you know this stuff)

8) drop the link into your <img> tag shell

9) <img src="http://a833.ac-images.

myspacecdn.com/images01/5/

width="100" height="100" />

That is an actual image I have on my MySpace profile. I will copy that code above to the html side here to demonstrate:

Linking to MySpace Images and Using CSS "float"

me

Now, I just need to figure out how to align all of this stuff! Never mind! I just figured it out. I was typing here and changing things as I got to it. Sort of a live work in progress, if you will.

I just linked to my MySpace profile pic. The really cool part will be to see if the image here changes along with my changing the MySpace image. I suppose it will, so long as the link isn't unique. Given how MySpace is programmed, it will probably be a unique link and when I change the picture there, it will create a broken link here.

Joomla has a really odd way of having to upload images and display them within articles. I have to upload them to a specific directory named "stories". I tried creating a new directory and uploading to it, but the images would always upload to the root folder for some odd reason. I was able to get them into the stories folder, however.

Stay tuned for more to come!

Here is the code I used to make this work:

The Roanokereviewer.com blog

E-mail Print PDF

The Roanokereviewer.com is a blog dedicated to the greater Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas. The site is immersed in reviews of local restaurants and basically anywhere one might purchase things.

I work in Daleville, but live in Roanoke. Along the course of an average week or month, I've visited many of the same fast-food chains, shopping places, restaurants, and grocery store in the area. I like to tell you about both the good and the bad and sometimes the ugly. I think it is necessary.

Check it out when you have a moment. I'm sure you'll find it insightful.

Images and MySpace

E-mail Print PDF

A lot of my entries seem to deal with images and MySpace. Ever see those comments on that certain person's profile that just seemed too wide or generally out of proportion? I'm sure you have. There are a couple remedies. The first, the owner of the profile can keep the images from expanding their comments. It is a setting within "edit profile". If you have difficulty locating it, let me know. The second method is to embed it with a stated size, like this: <img src="http://whatever.com/image.jpg" width="150" height="150" />. This does not create any type of link, however.

So, as you see here, you only need to augment the width and height to get it how you want it. When you click to save the comment, you'll get a preview, so you can always go back and change it around. Note: MySpace will "escape" the tags and such, so it won't look the same. Just concentrate on the numbers, not the tags, at this point.

You can still enter some of your own text with the image, say... "HI!!!", by typing in something like: <h3>HI!!!</h3> just above or below the image code.

Also, I will post how to link to images directly from your MySpace albums. It is surprisingly simple. :-)

MySpace Advertising

E-mail Print PDF

One thing you may run into if you're trying to advertise on MySpace is that they "re-write" your links and ask the clicking user if they're sure they want to go there. No problem that it warns them, but some destinations are blocked by MySpace altogether. There is a way to get around this. All one has to do is create a static .php file on their own server (of course, if you don't have your own server, this will be impossible) or hosted site. The file will contain your redirect code with your link embedded into it. Pretty simple stuff. I know it works, because I've tried it myself.

Angry Blog

E-mail Print PDF

Certainly you are angry from time to time. Maybe that is an understatement? I know it is for me. I'm definitely angry at things that I consider overtly ridiculous or plain stupid

When one has to deal with other people day in and day out, there's no avoiding their sheer stupidity and lack of fundamental reasoning. Often they are simpletons who are so self-absorbed that their selfish acts adversely affect you.

Inside Gaming

  • I recently received the Mass Effect 2 game for Xbox 360 as a gift!  I've got to say, this is one hell of a sequel game to Mass Effect!  The storyline is as intense and involved as ever and the graphics and sound are unsurpassed!

If I could complain at all, I'd complain about the time it takes to load a game.  Only take about a second to save one, but loading is more like 30 seconds - maybe more.  So, needless to say, moving around from the main screen to in-game can be quite time cumbersome and annoying.

  • Flashpoint just didn't get the high marks it deserved.  For those who like local, campaign play, this is the game for you.  It is intense, very difficult and will keep you on the edge of your seat figuring and carrying out that perfect strategy.

There is a lot of evasive or eluding type play - meaning that you don't always have to engage the enemy just because you can see them.  If you want to survive in this game, you have to be tactically sound in your decisions, well disciplined, and patient.

  • The graphics were great, the individual scenes awesome, the length of play...   HIGHLY disappointing!

I played this game for just over 11 hours.  I don't consider myself a "gamer".  I've always thought of gamers as those who buy every new game as it becomes available to buy and play it straight through to the finish.  Some of these people even use the system to quickly play it, take it back or trade it in for another, or whatever.
